A Senator who listens, in his own words
Senator Mike McKay, Maryland Senate District 1
Where Mike comes from
Mike McKay represents Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties in the Maryland Senate. He chairs the Fire and EMS Coalition. He has spent his life in Western Maryland, and brings its priorities to Annapolis in their own voice.
On the record
"Tax dollars from Western Maryland should come back to Western Maryland. That is not a complicated idea. It is the whole job."
"If you are in a fire company in District 1, you should not have to fight Annapolis to get the equipment you need to do the call."
"Rural counties get represented when their senator stands up and votes that way. I have done that every session, and I plan to keep doing it."
What I'm fighting for
Concrete priorities that decide whether Western Maryland gets a fair shake out of every session.
Funding, recruitment, and the legal framework that lets volunteer and paid responders do the job.
Cumberland, Hagerstown, Oakland, and the smaller towns in between. The infrastructure that turns into jobs.
The issues that hit Western Maryland differently. The senator who knows how they hit, and why.
Spending Western Maryland's money should require Annapolis to show its work. Every time.
